I’m delighted (and a little nervous!) to share that I’ve joined the Department of Population Health Sciences at King’s College London as a Research Associate in Lung Health and Wellbeing.
This marks an exciting new chapter in my academic journey. I’ll be contributing to the SPLASH project – a study exploring the development and feasibility of social prescribing of laughter for people with Bronchiectasis. Yes, laughter! It’s a beautiful, creative, and evidence-informed approach to wellbeing, and I’m genuinely excited to be part of it.

I’ve spent the past few years immersed in research around COPD, digital health, and co-produced interventions. This new role builds on that foundation while opening up new opportunities to collaborate with experts in respiratory health and behavioural science. I’m looking forward to growing my networks, learning from colleagues, and continuing to build confidence in my work.
Navigating transitions
Of course, transitions come with their own challenges. I’ll be commuting to London regularly and (better yet…) I’ll be living part-time in our campervan (currently mid-conversion) – what an exciting adventure? But, if you have any tips on surviving van life in the colder months, I’d love to hear them!
I’m also navigating some personal health challenges. My migraines have been increasing again (triggered by stress and the weather), and they’re incredibly debilitating and worrying. Alongside that, I continue to manage anxiety and depression, which can feel especially loud during times of change. I’m trying to be really mindful with these feelings and meet them with compassion and curiosity. My support network of friends, family and colleagues are incredibly helpful with all this too!
While I’m focused on settling into this new role, I’ll still be running my coaching and mentoring practice – just in a lighter capacity. Supporting researchers, especially those navigating uncertainty, overwhelm, or self-doubt, remains extremely close to my heart.
Thank you to everyone who’s been part of this journey so far. I’m excited to see where this next chapter leads and will share more as things unfold.

We are so proud of you Laura! …and don’t worry, once the van is fully completed you’ll be warm and cosy and won’t want to go back to cleaning a house ????
Look after yourself, you are an inspiration to many! Love you ❤️
